In 2016 a Hieronymus Bosch painting was discovered at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri. The painting was acquired by the museum in the 1930s but was heavily painted over and retouched. The painting was put into storage for decades before initiating the study. Conservators used Infra-red technology to reveal that Bosch was the true author. The painting was unveiled in the Netherlands at the Noordbrabants Museum for the 500th anniversary of Bosch’s death.
