In 2014 the Dalí painting, “The Intra-Uterine Birth of Salvador Dalí” was unveiled in Madrid. The painting was first discovered in 1988 by Tomeu l’Amo, who found the work in an old shop in Girona, Catalonia. For years, l’Amo worked with scholars to research the painting. Eventually, an Interpol graphologist analyzed the handwriting, which proved to be consistent with Dalí’s writing style. Historians now believe the painting is one of Dalí’s earliest works, painted when the artist was only 17.
